There are no cases of pulse polio in India since 2012, and as of now India is no longer a polio endemic country. It is against this fact that this article has been attempted to identify and highlight the contribution of various interpersonal activities aimed at social mobilization and behavioural change. The following article is an effort to understand the theoretical perspective of the polio eradication campaign in India especially against the backdrop of behavior change communication interventions involving community leaders, celebrities, religious leaders and numerous frontline workers. An effort is made to identify various theories and combinations of theories that came into play in the campaign. The article is divided into the following sections – background, identification of the theoretical component and conclusion.
