Developmental Workshops for Educators | 2020

The below mentioned workshop is being organized by Vedatya is a part of our on-going effort to work with our partners in the school system with an objective to add value to all our stakeholders, especially the students. It is through discussion and dialogue that is triggered by such initiatives that we are able to share best practices and learn from each other, and drive forward looking, innovative and effective learning solutions.

10:30 am to 11:30 am | Discussion: Design thinking as a life skill

There is a strong case being created for non-STEM career paths currently in India, giving way to a renewed focus on ‘liberal arts and design’ related career paths. It is also becoming increasingly apparent that ‘design thinking’ as a competency needs to be built throughout the schooling journey of a student to make him/her develop the right set of skills and a general aptitude for new opportunities outside of the traditional STEM options.

How can we embed ‘design thinking’ in our school curriculum is a question to ask, should this be done from middle school or even earlier? Given the role of statutory bodies like CBSE, NCERT in defining and approving the curriculum, how can all stakeholders be brought to the table to build consensus to deploy a framework that will encourage and support young learners to be design thinkers ready to engage with a wide range of creative career opportunities? The discussion in a roundtable format will probe all the above questions in a structured way.
