A one-day workshop on Sustainable Building Technologies

The hands-on workshop (one-day program scheduled for 8th Nov 2022) shall be focused on sustainable architecture and building with a hands-on approach to learning.

It is an opportunity to plunge into a rich pool of ideas, inspiration, and practical knowledge that will give the trainees tools for personal growth as architecture/design/engineering students. The aim of the program is to open up young minds to the correct understanding of a material based on its intrinsic properties so that the trainees become capable of using these technologies for their own endeavors.

The workshop program shall cover lectures and practical training on the following disaster-resistant technologies:

Walling Blocks – Blocks with different kinds of infill mix shall be made. Trainees shall learn how to use mud, concrete, fly ash (subject to availability), etc., and will learn the process of surface engineering the blocks as they will be finished with finishes like broken tile, broken stone, broken bangles, stone chips, sand texture, etc. They will also study the relevance of these blocks in earthquake engineering and thermal insulation.

Flooring Panels – The trainees shall learn how to make flooring out of waste building material, they can make versatile designs using different materials, and learn a sustainable method of flooring.

Twisted Columns – The trainees shall learn how to make twisted brick columns and their advantages

The students shall understand how compression structures work and how waste can be utilized for building structures that are environmentally friendly and structurally stable. The focus is to develop an analytical and common-sensical approach to design.
