The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the normal functioning of several activities across the world, including learning and education. The shift towards online education during the pandemic of COVID19 has led many studies to focus on perceived learning outcomes and teachers, student satisfaction in this new learning environment. The online learning system has come as a therapy for education system. The intended purpose of this paper seeks to address the teachers perceptions towards online learning in India during COVID-19 pandemic and required essentialities of online teaching-learning in education. The value of this paper is to draw a holistic picture of ongoing online teaching-learning activities during the lockdown period including establishing the linkage between change management process and online teaching-learning process in education system amid the COVID-19 outbreak so as to overcome the persisting academic disturbance and consequently ensure the resumption of educational activities and discourses as a normal course of procedure in the education system. The objectives of the study were examining the teachers perception towards online learning, analysing the challenges faced by teachers during online learning and suggestive measures to improve them. To achieve the objectives, online survey method through Google Forms was adopted to gather the responses from teachers of all educational fields from different states of India by using a self-developed questionnaire. The study found that training on e-learning platforms and technical support from institutes is vital to make this system effective. Teachers perception towards online learning is that it provides flexibility in scheduling sessions, and wide range of digital tools are easily accessible; this made teaching-learning process easy. Faculty members also mentioned that technical issues, engaging and motivating students and conducting practical sessions are some of the challenges of online learning system. Training on online learning platforms and proper technological support from educational institutions are some of the measures which have to be taken in serious consideration. The study will be helpful for the educationists and academics to identify the factors which will enhance teacher learning outcome and satisfaction level in online classes during the corona virus pandemic.
